Can someone help me with my guitar/singing?

okay so i can play guitar decent enought but i have a hard time singing like the song Good Riddance by Green Day i can play the chords on the song just fine but when i try to sing i mess up the strumming pattern and i get headaches from it. so how can i get better at this?
