Period/Spotting halfway through birth control pack?

I just started my third week of birth control pills, and it's my second month taking it consecutively. I took it for a month and a half, and had the dates messed up so I waited until it started again to take it the right way. Now that I've been taking it on the right dates for a month and a half now, I've been spotting for about the past 5 days, and sometimes it's really light, or it could be randomly heavy. Or sometimes it'll just stop completely for part of the day and come back later. Is this common? & will I still get my period during the inactive brown pills ? (Loestrin 24 Fe) I'm supposed to take it at 9 oclock every night, but a few times i've taken it at 10ish because I forgot to bring it where I was going. but I've never went more then a 3 hour period of forgetting.
